Counselling, placement and support – all under one roof
The Hamburg Youth Employment Agency provides advice, support and assistance to young people under 25 in the following areas:
- choosing and preparing for a career
- finding a suitable training place
- choosing an appropriate educational pathway within the vocational training system
- selecting a suitable degree programme
- overcoming difficulties at school or during training
- dealing with personal problems
At every location of the Youth Employment Agency, employees from several authorities work closely together:
- Authority for Schools, Family and Vocational Training (BSFB):
Provides advice on all vocational school programmes, helps to find subsidised vocational preparation places, training places or jobs, and offers guidance on questions regarding compulsory school attendance. - Hamburg Employment Agency:
assists in finding training places and jobs, and has an Academic Careers team that provides guidance on degree programmes and academic career paths. - Jobcenter team.arbeit.hamburg:
Supports young adults receiving basic income support on their journey into employment, and provides access to qualification support as well as help with debt and addiction issues. - District authorities:
Offer support in accessing family and youth welfare services provided by the district authorities, as well as a range of services for young people, young adults, parents, single mothers and fathers, and pregnant women in a variety of life situations and circumstances. They also provide assistance in cases of housing emergencies.
The Youth Employment Agency is the central point of contact for young people. Young people under the age of 25 can contact their local Youth Employment Agency with any questions or concerns. Employees of the Youth Employment Agency (career guidance, HIBB) support pupils at Hamburg’s Stadtteilschulen.
